With pure spirit to give meaning to public service amidst a sworn commitment to look after the welfare of his constituents, City Mayor Roseller H. Rizal has extended jobs yesterday to some 800 poor but deserving students of Calamba City under the city’s Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).
SPES aims to assist poor, but deserving, students and out-of-school youths to pursue their education by providing them income through employment.
The program also provide the students with valuable experience for better school-to-work transition.
Under SPES, the students are employed for a minimum of 20 to a maximum of 52 working days where participating employers pay 60 percent of their salary, while the Deparnent of Labor and Employment pays the 40 percent share based on the applicable minimum wage in the area.
The 800 poor students are considered City Mayor Rizal’s first short-term lucky job beneficiaries under his administration that just assumed office eight days ago.
